Edward
Mason is
Head of the London Office of Independent Diplomat. He joined
the
organisation in November 2005 and has worked on all of ID’s
current projects with the governments of Kosovo, Somaliland and Western
Sahara. He is ID’s expert on Somaliland.
Edward joined Independent Diplomat
from the British
Foreign Office where he served in various posts for over fifteen
years.He has extensive experience in European public affairs and
European Union (EU) enlargement, having served as Stakeholder Manager
for the UK Presidency of the EU in 2005, acted as Deputy Head of
Mission at the British Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia, from 2002 to 2005
and been posted in Oslo during Norway’s EU membership
negotiations in the 1990s.
Edward was also
involved in the
Foreign Office in the development and implementation of foreign policy
in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Ireland and provided advice on human
resource management and organisational design to top management.
Edward holds a
degree in History from Oxford University.
Edward
Mason is
available for press interviews and background briefings on a variety of
matters, with expertise in: the Western Balkans (especially Croatia,
Kosovo,
the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia
and the EU
Stabilisation and Association process), Cyprus (especially the Turkish
Republic
of Northern Cyprus), Somaliland (Somalia), Western Sahara and
the conduct
